How to Make a Bedspread

Whenever we go shopping for something, we should know exactly what we need. With a little bit of research and thought put into it, you can avoid getting something that isn’t suitable for your purposes. The same is applied to buying a bedspread, which should fit certain functions and purposes. If you don’t have the budget to buy the type of bedspread you really need, instead of settling for something of lower quality or size, you can try to make a bedspread by yourself. If you’re the handy type and you enjoy making things, it can be a perfect project and the result can be one that you’re proud to show off.
The things which are need so that you can make a bedspread include a sewing machine, tape measure, thread, fabrics, scissors, fabric marker, ironing board, iron and straight pins. Use the tape measure to determine exactly the size of the finished bedspread, so it will fit your bed perfectly. Use the measurements you determined and mark the area which needs to be cut from the fabric, while giving yourself an extra allowance of up to one inch.
After that, start assembling the bedspread. For one that is lined, use a double stitch for the edges, with one side left open. The sides should then be hemmed and the corners should be sewn. After that, take the pins out and get the material through the sewing machine, while pressing on its edges, so it goes more smoothly. The fringe should be attached after that, keeping one inch from the material’s edge.
If you want to make it look a bit more fancy, you can use fringes or piping to its seams. These should use different colors than the spread, in order to bring a bit of contrast.
